Chidi -Wave speech tote bag
The Good Place has ended, and at the heart of the final episode was Chidi’s wonderful speech to Elenor.
“Picture a wave in the ocean: you can see it measure it, its height, the way the sunlight refracts… and then it crashes on the shore and then it’s gone. But the water is still there. The wave was just a different way for the water to be for a little while. That’s one conception of death for a Buddhist. The wave returns to the ocean, where it came from, and where it’s supposed to be.”
There was not a dry eye in the house when Chidi said his goodbyes, but the show ended on a perfect moment (no spoilers) that will stay with you for a long time to come.
Since we started watching The Good Place just before Christmas, I’ve been attempting to capture the spirit of the players with as few lines and colours as possible to make them into striking products such as t-shirts and totes. The Chidi image is my favourite and I updated it after the last episode, giving him a small pin badge featuring some detail from The Great Wave Off Kanagawa by Hokusai.
I love glitter and was tempted to do the text in green glitter, but decided a more sombre black was more appropriate, even though the sentiment in the quote is optimistic.
I hope you like it.
